5 Months Baby killed in Alicante airport ' mother climbed on to conveyor to retrieve stuck pushchair when she dropped baby

A baby was killed on an airport baggage carousel in Spain after his family arrived from Gatwick on holiday.

His mother climbed onto the luggage belt holding the baby, according to witnesses, losing her balance and dropping her child onto the belt.

But airport staff said the woman, who was also travelling with an older child, clambered onto the unmoving luggage belt, after a pushchair got stuck in a chute.
She was holding the five-month boy in a baby-carrier as she climbed onto the belt, but lost her balance and the baby fell out of it, sources told the Spanish newspaper Informacion.
One theory is that automatic sensors then detected the weight, causing the belt to start moving
